About us

Griffith Park Bujinkan began in 2017 to support Franklin Canyon Bujinkan members with an additional training location.
Originally created to prepare students for training in Japan, the group quickly became a dedicated hub for martial artists.
In 2020, we merged all locations under the Bujinkan Seki Ryu umbrella for unity and growth.

Our instructors hold licenses from Dr. Masaaki Hatsumi, the Grandmaster of the Bujinkan martial arts organization in Japan.
They travel often to Japan and abroad, learning directly from Dr. Hatsumi and senior instructors around the world.
This ongoing training ensures Griffith Park Bujinkan offers students authentic, evolving martial arts instruction.

Franklin Canyon Bujinkan, founded in 2012 by Sensei David Greenberg, laid the foundation for our current group.
Sensei Greenberg has spent decades training in Japan and globally, and he continues to guide our direction today.

At Griffith Park Bujinkan, we place great emphasis on natural body movement, psychological tactics, and the mastery of classical Japanese weapons. Consequently, our students engage in a comprehensive curriculum that seamlessly blends time-honored samurai techniques with modern, practical self-defense skills. Through this unique combination, practitioners develop not only physical agility and strength but also mental focus and strategic awareness. Moreover, whether you are a complete beginner or a seasoned martial artist, our welcoming community supports every student’s journey. Therefore, we foster an environment of dedication, respect, and mutual encouragement, where each individual can grow their skills, deepen their understanding, and connect with others who share a passion for traditional martial arts.
